About
Beyond the result.
Behind the athlete.
Race results tell you what happened. They rarely tell you who made it happen.
Beyond The Line is an independent sports publication telling the stories that exist beyond performances, positions and times.
Through interviews, profiles and original reporting, it explores the ambition, setbacks, personalities and decisions behind athletes competing across endurance sport.
What we cover
Running
Track, road, cross country and the athletes competing within them.
Triathlon
The people balancing three disciplines and everything that comes with them.
Cycling, Trail & Swimming
Stories from elsewhere across endurance sport.
Emerging athletes
Particular attention is given to athletes at the beginning of their careers, before their stories are being told everywhere else.
The editor
Daniel Jelfs
Founder & Editor
Beyond The Line was founded by Daniel Jelfs, a runner, triathlete and journalist based in London.
Having competed within the sport himself, Daniel started Beyond The Line to tell the stories that race results and statistics cannot.
His reporting focuses particularly on conversations with athletes, understanding not only how they perform, but who they are, what drives them and where they are going.
